Establishing a Healthy Routine
I somewhat wistfully say farewell to summer as I embrace the ”back to routine” that September brings. While I adore summer, routine, purpose and structure ground me. Structure serves as a boundary. It keeps me on track and helps me get things done - things that are important to me.
This blog is an invitation to think about how you will take care of your health this fall. Being a yoga, mindfulness, mental health and fitness enthusiast, I take extreme care to ensure these elements are regularly incorporated into my life. In fact, these things are non-negotiable and the people in my life know this. I know what happens when I am not “practicing health.” As we move into fall, consciously design a health routine that works for you and will support you to feel more whole, present and alive. Prioritize you. Fill your cup. This is not selfish, this is self-preservation.
Plot out times when you can do an activity that nourishes you. I happen to love mornings. Maybe wake up an hour earlier while the weather is still nice.
Get into a rhythm with your yoga, mindfulness and movement practice. Discipline and repetition are key. When we adhere to our health routine, we begin to feel the benefits. We also send the message to others in our lives that it is okay to take time to care for our bodies and psyches.
