About Me

"Suffering is the breaking of the shell that encloses are understanding."

– Kahil Gibran

Welcome. My name is Lisa.

Kind, curious, tenacious and present are some of the attributes that describe me.

Life is hard. There can be suffering, discomfort, stress, and dissatisfaction. Fortunately, compassionate mindfulness, spiritual teaching, and psychotherapy provide tools for working with distress, and difficulty can be an incredible teacher. My healing journey began in my twenties as I recovered from an addiction that ultimately propelled me towards health. Personal therapy has been an ongoing and helpful thread in my life. I am passionate about my healing work as I have been on the other side. I know what it is like to struggle – to feel not good enough, to feel fearful and anxious.

I consider myself to be a life-long learner and someone who remains, after many years, fascinated by personal transformation. Health and wellness have permeated my life personally and professionally for over thirty years. In my twenties, I taught group fitness classes, was a Big Sister, and worked at an addiction treatment centre providing education and community development in the area of substance abuse prevention. I have worked with young offenders and people who have survived sexual assault and have spent many years working in public health at the local and provincial levels. After I became a mother for the first time, I discovered the world of yoga. I have taught yoga in studios, hotels, schools, community centres, and hospitals and for several years I was part of the wellness team at the Helix Healthcare Group in Toronto, providing individual and group trauma informed yoga. Today, in addition to my therapy practice, I teach yoga and compassionate mindfulness.
